Any man looking to complete a smart and elegant look this Christmas should avoid clichéd Christmas jumpers in favour of elegant cotton shirts.
That is according to Bill Prince, the deputy editor of GQ magazine, who recommended shirts as part of an elegant après-ski style dress code.
Mr Prince made the suggestions during an interview with the Financial Times, in which he warned men "not to go too kitsch and clichéd" with their Christmas clothing.
Instead, he recommended males look to the winning combination of grey flannel trousers along with a smart shirt and simple jumper or cardigan.
He stressed the importance of a smart appearance over something more jovial in setting a tone with friends and guests during the holidays.
"Making an effort with your clothes suggests you are going to make an effort to get on with everyone and it’s a compliment to anyone you go and visit," he said.
