Guys 'driving dangerously in men's shirts'

13 Aug 2010

The majority of drivers in the UK have admitted to acting in a potentially dangerous way after putting on their men's shirts and getting behind the wheel last month.

Research by Sainsbury's Car Insurance has found that 64 per cent of motorists admitted to some form of activity that could have been potentially dangerous while they were in charge of a vehicle during July.

Among these were eating or drinking and some even admitted to hitting the road without wearing any shoes.

Other drivers admitted to having a pet loose in their car, using a phone, checking directions on a map or driving while hungover.

Putting on short sleeve shirts may be useful for guys as bare arms could mean they have no distractions and do not get too hot while they are behind the wheel.

Ben Tyte, Sainsbury's Car Insurance manager, said: "Simple actions like eating or drinking behind the wheel or driving with flip flops on can significantly increase the risk of you having an accident, so we would urge motorists to focus on their driving and not be tempted to engage in anything that may distract them."
