Mark Cavendish outfit highlights quality shirts on show at Sports Personality Awards

23 Dec 2011

BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner Mark Cavendish won plaudits as one of the best dressed males at the awards show in Salford last night, with a range of formal shirts on display at the event.

The annual celebration took place in the Manchester region for the first time last night, but proved an equally glamorous event thanks to the stylings of those from the world of sport.

Hosted by Gary Lineker and Sue Barker, the red carpet for the event was awash with some inspired suit combinations from the likes of cricketer Andrew Strauss and boxing legend Joe Calzaghe.

But it was cyclist Cavendish who stole the show and the night, after picking up the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award following an unforgettable year that saw him win five stages of the annual Tour de France as well as the coveted green jersey.

Not content with taking the sporting headlines, the 26-year-old also boosted his image with a classic charcoal grey suit and white slim fit shirt combination along with asleek black skinny tie.

Cutting a Don Draper-esque figure, he was joined by pregnant, but no less elegant, girlfriend and model Peta Todd who later tweeted her delight at Cavendish’s win.

'Congratu-BLOODY-lations...!!! Thank you so SO much for everyones support. Proud doesn't come close, ' she wrote.
