Quality shirts offer timeless fashion appeal, says Air

11 Jan 2012

When it comes to fashion, French electronic dance legends Air firmly believe that classic looking mens shirts are the way to go.

The duo, Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunckel, asserted their opinion on male fashion and in particular the shirt during a recent interview with GQ magazine.

It comes as the pair prepare for the release of their first album in three years, entitled Le Voyage Dans La Lune.

The album is inspired by the classic 1902 Georges Melies film of the same name, with their new music providing something of an accompaniment to the silent picture.

It is perhaps fitting then that the pair with a penchant for classic cinema should recommend the classic look of crease free shirts.

Quizzed on their current fashion tastes, Godin was first to express his love of fine shirts, explaining "I followed fashion a lot but at some point you give that up and decide you just want to look timeless".

Dunckel was seemingly in agreement, explaining that part of him enjoys "searching the market for a vintage shirt and another part that enjoys going to the big, well-known brands".

Whatever their preference, the musical innovators remain in agreement over one thing: nothing matches a shirt for effortless cool alongside elegant style - and they should know.
