SPRING / SUMMER - 2012
Men's Shirts and Gadget NewsTake inspiration from Britain's most stylish by picking up mens shirts15 Dec 2011
When it comes to looking good in a smart outfit British gents are arguably some of the best in the world at dressing to impress in items such as suits, waistcoats and stylish mens shirts. Of course, not all men living in the UK have a natural flair for fashion, but that shouldn't stop guys from trying out new ideas and even borrowing a few from those that they admire. Age is no barrier to looking good and being stylish need not mean that males need to restock their wardrobe with the latest trends each season, as sometimes items - such as mens single cuff shirts and mens double cuff shirts - will fit the bill perfectly, due to the classic look that they offer that has served people well over a number of years. The list of nominees for GQ.com's Best-Dressed 2012 award lends weight to this claim as it features men of all ages and a variety of backgrounds. These include the previous winner Twilight-star Robert Pattinson, who seemingly has won a few envious looks from males in terms of his dress sense and not simply due to his status as one of the world's most fancied men. Music legend Paul Weller also makes the cut, as does Liam Gallagher, perhaps unsurprising considering the pair have worked together to create items for the latter's own clothing line. Gary Barlow - famed for hits including Patience, Rule The World and Back For Good - is also in contention as he even managed to steal some of the limelight from his fellow judges Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland with a string of sharp suits on the X Factor this year. The show's presenter Dermot O'Leary also barely put a foot wrong with his outfits, gaining a similar level of acclaim to the Take That singer. Other famous Brits that might be well worth emulating for those hoping to pick up a few new mens cotton shirts are David Beckham, Clive Owen, Will Young, George Lamb, Bryan Ferry, Serge Pizzorno, Tom Hardy, Orlando Bloom and Mark Ronson. Each of these share the knack of knowing how to dress for a variety of occasions and have all been snapped in differing - but equally chic - mens shirts in the past 12 months. Royalty is also in contention for the award with the ever dapper Prince Charles facing competition from Prince William, whose sense of style is arguably overlooked due to the huge level of attention given to what his other half chooses to wear each time they are seen in public. The magazine is giving readers the opportunity to take a look at a photograph of how well each contender scrubs up and cast a vote, with the male who gains the most approvals being named the winner. Those hoping to improve their appearance could go a step further and pick up some mens shirts and other items that are similar to those worn by their personal favourite. It may not earn them a nomination for the gong next year but at very least it should see them catching the eye for all the right reasons while they are out and about.
