Why guys should not forget men's shirts

10 Aug 2010

Hitting the street on a hot day without wearing men's shirts is something guys in the UK have been urged never to do.

Jan Moir, writing for the Daily Mail, said that the only time that guys can get away with being shirtless in public is on the beach or while swimming.

She was commenting after Simon Cowell was snapped out and about in the French city of Nice wearing a pair of white, draw-string cargo pants, matching trainers and little else in an area where Ms Moir claims doing so is not "socially acceptable".

Even jogging topless has been labelled a no-no by Ms Moir.

"It is a terrible kind of physical arrogance, not to mention an antisocial and unhygienic practice. Their sweat flies everywhere as they sprint on the pavement, oblivious to their own acid rain," she said.

She concluded by claiming that in order to avoid an "affront" to the UK's sense of decency, guys should put their men's shirts back on.

There are no topless finalists in Esquire magazine's ongoing search for the country's most stylish man, with the majority choosing jackets, shirts and pullovers despite the summer sun.
