Winner of magazine style hunt pictured in cotton shirts

3 Sep 2010

Classic white cotton shirts, tailored jackets and brogues polished to a high shine were the wardrobe staples favoured by the newly announced victors of Esquire's Britain's Best Dressed Man competition.

After months of hunting for stylish guys around the UK, the magazine has announced that its winner is 34-year-old head tailor Ross Hancock, who was pictured for the publication wearing a checked suit by bespoke tailor Mr Smart and one of what may be a wide collection of men's slim fit shirts.

While Mr Hancock did not accessorise his outfit with a tie, student Jack Murray, who came in third place, opted for a bow tie to complete his look of blazer, brown cord trousers and corsage.

Meanwhile, Matthew Zorpas, who came in second place, proved the 1960s are back in style by choosing a brown turtleneck, blue velvet blazer and slacks.

The winner will appear in the new edition of Esquire and has also bagged £30,000 worth of clothes from Harrods, among other prizes.

The publication's editor Jeremy Langmead recently wrote in the Independent that the search proved the tailored jacket to be a style staple favoured by men across the UK.
