Women 'attracted to red men's shirts'

Rather than splashing out on flowers, chocolates and romantic candle-lit dinners, it would seem that guys can win a woman's heart simply by wearing red men's shirts.

Indeed, men buying new button down collar shirts for a night out may wish to look out for the crimson shade if they want to ensure they are a hit with the ladies.

The research, which was reported in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: General and published by the American Psychological Association, was conducted by showing females pictures of men either wearing different colour clothes or framed in various shades.

It was discovered that in the images that featured red in some way, women would perceive the man as being more attractive and of a higher status.

However, the same test was found to have no effect on men.

Elsewhere, a poll by Very.co.uk recently revealed that brightly coloured Hawaiian shirts are among the garments women dislike the most on guys.
